Mariana Miguélez

Mariana joined The Women’s Place team in January 2021 where she collaborates with the Advocates and Allies Initiative for Gender Equity as well as with the Leadership Initiatives for Women of Color (LIWOC).

She is currently a PhD candidate in comparative politics in the Political Science Department at Ohio State. Her research interests include ethnicity, conflict, and gender with a regional focus on Latin America. In her dissertation, she studies how conflicts for natural resources impact identity in Mexico and how rural groups mobilize. Mariana earned her BA in political science and international relations from CIDE (Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas) in Mexico City, and also attended Universität Regensburg in Germany. Before graduate school, she worked as a legislative liaison officer at PwC in Mexico City and as a data analyst at the Tribunal Electoral del Poder Judicial de la Federación (TEPJF) in Toluca, Mexico. She is passionate about advancing social justice and increasing opportunities for vulnerable groups that have been historically left out.
