About this event

Ever wondered about what that moment was like for others? Join us for a community story sharing event exploring just that question! In honor of Black History Month, the theme of the night is: When Did You First Realize You Were Black?

The YWCA will kick things off with stories from four individuals of different generations about the moment they first realized they were black, and the ways in which that moment shaped who they are and how they view themselves today. Then they’ll open up the floor to anyone with a five-minute story to share on their own recognition of their racial identity.

Got your own story to share about when you first “knew” you were black or the discovery of your racial identity? We want to hear it! Your story should not exceed five minutes, it must have happened to you and be true. No notes, no props, just up to five minutes to share your story with the audience. You won’t want to miss this interactive storytelling event!
