Women & Girls' Fest is a celebration of women and girls in our community and a family-oriented day of inspiration, edutainment, live entertainment, arts, games, raffles, vendors, and culturally relevant workshops. The fest will also include food trucks and live hip hop, soul and jazz performances.

Festival organizers are also seeking volunteers. There are a number of tasks that need to be handled before, during and after the festival. If you or your constituents can spare a few hours you will get a Women & Girls' Fest T-shirt, a good meal, and the satisfaction of being a part of making history in our community. 

Pre-register for workshops by July 20. Space is limited! Workshops are located at 905 Mount Vernon Ave, Columbus, OH 43203 in The African-American & African Studies Extension Center.

10am: Workshop 1
"Hey Shorty": Dealing with Sexual Harassment
Rise Sister Rise

Girls and young women are harassed through jokes. social media. peer pressure. direct and indirect violence. Through scenarios. participants will learn protection techniques.

11am: Workshop 2
Speak Life
Tifani Kendrick

Using creative writing and spoken word as tools participants discover  their skills and talents and use them to inspire themselves and others.

Noon: Workshop 3
Aspire For Greatness: Life Coaching for the Arts
Priscilla Woodson

Attendees will learn how to capture their stories and experiences to build their blueprint for personal and professional development.

1pm: Workshop 4
Infamous Mothers: Overcoming Stigma
Sagnshus Levingston

For every mother or woman who has been stigmatized and those who want to build a bridge with them from a place of power. Focus is on healing and transitioning to a fulfilled life from trauma, domestic violence, addiction, single parenthood, re-entry from incarceration, and other social stigmas.

2pm: Workshop 5
Brown Girls Mentoring
Jamie Blunt

This workshop utilizes strategies such as affirmations, identification of healthy relationships, positive activities, and personal rituals in order to ground oneself in the practice of love as the practice of freedom.
