About this event

Aiming to improve your salary or work life? Knowing how to negotiate is an essential leadership skill. It can also help to challenge the gender salary gap that impacts women. Discussions are based on the AAUW Start Smart and Work Smart curriculum to assist you in determining your market value in light of your abilities, performance, and qualifications.

About the Program

AAUW Work Smart / Start Smart is designed to teach you how to negotiate for a new job, raise, or promotion. In this workshop, you’ll gain confidence in your negotiation style through facilitated discussion and role-play.

Benefits attendees will gain include:

  • A toolkit to help navigate salary negotiations for next career opportunities and how to determine your market value related to your abilities, qualifications, and expected job duties.
  • An understanding of other benefits, services, and supports that candidates can ask about during negotiation discussions when an increased salary is not possible.
  • A better understanding of the wage gaps and other equity issues facing women in the workforce and across the academy

Space is limited. Attendees of any gender are welcome. Remote access will not be provided for this session, but a fully virtual workshop will be scheduled for the future.
