Women of Inspiration Summit Experience: “Empowerment”

The CYP Club is proud to present the Women of Inspiration Summit Experience (WISE) - now as a QUARTERLY series of events - in January, April, July, and October!

WISE brings together nearly 100 attendees for an uplifting and inspirational three-hour event to connect and grow while hearing from outstanding speakers and thought leaders. Features include light breakfast & coffee, spectacular speakers, compelling workshops, inspirational interviews, meditation sessions, and a whole lot more. Our full agenda and speaker bios are updated below as they are added.

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, our focus will be on EMPOWERMENT! All WISE events are hosted from 8:30am-12pm at Wild Goose Creative in Franklinton. SAVE THE DATES! Other WISE dates this year include: July 25 and October 24.

Cost: A summit pass is $15 per person, or $10 for premium members. Light breakfast from Freedom a la Cart & coffee from Conservation Coffee are included, along with a WISE journal & goodie bag, full access to speakers & sessions, snacks, giveaways, and plenty of networking connections for all!

  • 10-10:45am (Main Room): Empowerment through Continuing Education: a “fireside chat” featuring career development & college admissions leaders from around Ohio. This session will highlight how going back to graduate school is one option to empower yourself and your career trajectory, as well as provide clarity and empowerment for those interested but hesitant to pursue graduate school (especially due to imposter syndrome and limiting beliefs). We will also discuss the value of an MBA from an HR/hiring manager’s perspective. Our guest moderator is Dr. Jena Pugh, Graduate School Strategist. Our panel of thought leaders includes: Hollie Hinton, Senior Director of Admissions at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business; Kari Lehman, Vice Provost for OHIO Online; Stephanie Nunley, Director of Admissions, Full-Time MBA at Case Western University’s Weatherhead School of Management; and more to be announced.

  • 10-10:45am (Lounge): Small Group Volunteer Activity with Proyecto Mariposas. Join us for an small group activity session led by Yahaira Perez where we’ll design positive cards for Proyecto Mariposas, a nonprofit that provides an environment of learning, sharing and support to Latina Girls and their mothers.

  • 10:45-11am: 15-minute Networking & Coffee Break

  • 11-11:40 (Main Room): Hot Seat Interview with Rita Fuller-Yates, Historian, Author, and Media Personality

  • 11-11:40am (Lounge): Tai Chi Session led by Carmen Pomales of Smiles Yoga Wellness & Meditation (SYWM). Carmita will be guiding a Tai Chi moving meditation that welcomes you to connect to your center. Enabling you to build strength and a foundation that can support you in balancing the body, mind, and (if you so choose) the spirit. The practice can be done seated or standing. You can use it as a calming remedy in times of stress and/or overwhelm.

Summit Speaker Bios & Session Descriptions

  • Rosemarie Rossetti is the epitome of resilience, a beacon of change, and an advocate for accessibility and universal design. As the Founder and CEO of Rossetti Enterprises LLC. and a respected global speaker, she has harnessed her personal experiences to inspire and drive change in the world around her.

    Her journey is one of resilience and a profound personal transformation. A life-altering spinal cord injury in 1998 sparked a new path in her career and life, driving her passion for helping others navigate change and embrace new possibilities.

    As an accomplished author, her book Take Back Your Life!: Regaining Your Footing After Life Throws You a Curve is a testament to her strength and an inspiration to all who encounter life's unanticipated challenges.

    She has led numerous initiatives, leveraging her expertise in coping with change, dealing with adversity, and creating inclusive environments. She is renowned for her motivational keynote, which empowers audiences to see change as an opportunity to unlock their unique potential.

    Her relentless pursuit of a more inclusive world demonstrates that adversity can shape but never define our journey. Her remarkable resilience is a testament to the human spirit's indomitable strength.

    On her journey to make the world more inclusive, she and her husband, Mark Leder, designed and built their accessible home in Columbus. The Universal Design Living Laboratory is North America's highest-rated universal design home.

    Her work extends across industries, spreading the knowledge and benefits of universal design. Through her initiatives and advocacy, she's not just creating houses; she's building a more inclusive world.

    She has also championed diversity and inclusion in the events industry, working with meeting professionals to help them accommodate people with disabilities at meetings and events.

    Her work and life story will inspire all of us to embrace change and empower ourselves to attain our unique competitive advantages.

  • Senior Director of Admissions at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business

    Hollie Hinton is Senior Director of Admissions and Recruiting in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. In this role, she leads global admissions strategy for the MBA and other graduate programs. Hinton brings private and public sector experience to her role at Ohio State. She formerly led a multi-state marketing and business development team for engineering and architecture firm DLZ, bringing critical infrastructure to communities and expanding the company into new markets. Prior to that, she founded and led the State of Ohio Governor's Office for Women's Initiatives and Outreach, which focused on advancing the status of Ohio’s women and girls. She is also a small business owner and entrepreneur.

    Hinton is currently studying for a Master of Consumer Science at Ohio State, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. She speaks Italian and Spanish and has extensive experience traveling and living abroad. Hinton counts among her most positive transformational experiences her previous service as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Puerto Rico.

    She is active in the community through her church, serving as an election day poll worker, and with the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Her favorite pastimes include reading, skiing, running, traveling, and spending time with her husband and large extended family.

    Stephanie A. Nunley is a dynamic force at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management, serving as the Director of Admission in Cleveland, Ohio. Her impressive track record includes spearheading successful recruitment strategies and championing diversity and inclusion initiatives. Stephanie actively collaborates with organizations like Forte, the National Black MBA Association, and Prospanica to foster diversity in business and elevate representation in executive leadership.

    Beyond her professional endeavors, Stephanie is a passionate advocate for education, professional development, and community engagement. She serves on various boards and committees dedicated to advancing these causes and creating positive impacts.

    Stephanie holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Management and has also delved into studies in Database Administration, Spanish, and Ethnic Studies. She attributes her diverse educational background to her success and is driven by a deep-rooted passion for guiding students towards academic and professional achievement.

    In her free time, Stephanie indulges in her love for travel, hiking, and discovering new and exciting destinations. Her adventurous spirit and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable asset to the Weatherhead community and beyond.

  • An activity session led by Yahira Perez where we’ll design positive cards for Proyecto Mariposas, a nonprofit that provides an environment of learning, sharing and support to Latina Girls and their mothers.

    The Proyecto Mariposas began its journey on July 16th, 2011 with four girls and their mothers. Their vision has been to develop brave girls and strong women. Through their programs they help build self-esteem, encourage risk taking and create a community of love and learning. Proyecto Mariposas works with Latina girls ages 2-17 in Columbus, OH by providing activities that are focused on culture, development and health.

    Mission: We want our girls and mothers to be physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally healthy. We do this through our approach and programs.

  • Rita Fuller-Yates, a proud native of Columbus, Ohio, boasts a solid educational background and a passion for history, storytelling, and research. She graduated from East High School in Columbus and pursued her undergraduate studies at Ohio University in Athens, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Continuing her academic journey, Fuller-Yates obtained a master's degree from the Savannah College of Arts and Design in 2014.

    Rita Fuller-Yates has emerged as a prominent figure in her community, championing the preservation and celebration of Black history through various initiatives. Her journey began in 2022 with the launching of her first history book, "Columbus Black History: Stories from Our Past." This milestone marked the inception of her efforts to share untold stories and amplify the historical contributions of Black individuals in Columbus, Ohio.

    Continuing her commitment to education and outreach, Fuller-Yates expanded her literary repertoire with two additional books, demonstrating her versatility and dedication to engaging audiences of all ages. Notably, her children's book, "Just A Little Girl from Long Street," is a poignant testament to the importance of representation and empowerment for young readers.

    In addition to her writing endeavors, Fuller-Yates has pioneered black history tours, providing invaluable resources for her city to explore its rich cultural heritage. By incorporating these tours into her repertoire, she has created dynamic and immersive experiences that foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of local Black history.

    Looking ahead, Fuller-Yates has ambitious plans to extend her tours to new cities across the country, thereby expanding the reach and impact of her advocacy efforts. Through her dedication, passion, and innovative approach, she continues to inspire individuals and communities to engage with and preserve the legacies of Black history.

  • Carmita Smiles is a Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master, Ayurveda Practitioner, and Tai Chi Instructor. Her focus in wellness is to share the roots and transformation over time of practices, like Yoga and Tai Chi (Taiji), through workshops and classes. Thus allowing a deeper understanding of the physical, mental, spiritual, and energetics of these practices. That can support one’s well being in daily life.

    Rachel Will has experience teaching and performing various genres such as classical, musical theatre, jazz, swing, and contemporary church music. She is a music director as well as a creative arts director, overseeing arts marketing, creative design, production, and vocal/instrumental performance. She is passionate about helping individuals discover and explore their own voice through music and the arts. Rachel is a champion for others, passionately empowering women to find their creative purpose. In addition, she has extensive knowledge in career guidance, leadership development, and strategically fosters community and organizational partnerships to further support inclusivity through community connection.

    Siana Talley is an enthusiastic operations leader at Discover Financial Services, holding eleven years of experience in strategic planning, project management, and business operations. She fearlessly leads the Employee Resource Groups Professional Women Impacting Results (PWIR) and Black Organized Leaders of Discover (BOLD) with a mission focused on empowering members to pursue their ambitions at each stage of their careers by harnessing the power of diversity and awareness to drive business results. In complement to her day-to-day leadership responsibilities, she engages in development opportunities with the National Black MBA Conference, PayTech Women, and McKinsey Management Accelerator, among others.

    Ms. Talleys' most significant project to date is engaging with her leadership team to successfully incorporate a corporate social enterprise model to drive the development of a community-based contact center within the vibrant community of Whitehall. Siana will concentrate on building wrap-around services that provide access to resources for employees to come to work as their whole selves while earning sustainable income. She is responsible for establishing and cultivating relationships with community-based organizations, such as Passport 2 Fashion, Columbus Young Professionals, Dress for Success Columbus, Women Just Like Me, and many others.

    Outside of her professional life, Siana appreciates positively impacting the community by using her interpersonal skills and life experiences to mentor those she leads and connects with. Siana believes in the power of small actions and lives by the motto, "Do something that makes you happy every day - big or small!" She acknowledges life as a precious gift and believes that while here on earth, everyone must do better for themselves and the communities they embrace. When not empowering the community she serves, Siana's most essential and rewarding life's work is mothering her 11-year-old son, Channing.

    Overall, Siana is a driven and compassionate individual who brings her expertise and passion to her professional and personal life—at the same time, displaying her dedication to making a positive impact in her community and empowering others to pursue their dreams.

  • Yahaira Rose, MPS, CNP is the founder of Proyecto Mariposas providing enrichment opportunities for Latina mothers and daughters in Central Ohio for the past 13 years. She is also the Director of the Martin de Porres Center (Dominican Sisters of Peace), serving the community through programming for youth and families. She commissioner for the Ohio Commission of Hispanic and Latinos Affairs (OCHLA). Yahaira has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and Education from The Ohio State University, a Master’s Degree in Professional Studies with a specialty in Leadership Development from the University of Denver. Yahaira has over 20 years of experience in Leadership Development Programs in Corporate and Non Profit. She is fiercely dedicated to the growth and development of the community she serves. She is certified as Non-Profit Professional by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Yahaira’s passion is to work closely with the Latine population to provide resources, tools and skills that can build resiliency and strong communities.
