Seminars & Lectures

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
@ James 035

This program will focus on the current lack of diversity in the biomedical research workforce today and the positive impact a diverse workforce can have on research. The NIH awards Administrative Supplements to Promote Diversity and participants will learn about these awards and the process to apply for them from the NIH perspective and from PIs who have been awarded supplements. Participants will also be able to identify organizations and institutions from which they may recruit graduate students and postdocs to create a diverse research program. Participants will hear firsthand from students, junior faculty, and university diversity officers about the importance of a diverse scientific workforce and how they can actively work to create that workforce.

The key audience for this program is RO1 funded PIs, but anyone who aspires to such an award or manages RO1 awards can benefit. This content will be valuable to college and department diversity officers as well.
