Lucille Clifton is the 2007 recipient of the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize, one of the most honorable prizes given to the American poets, and one of the largest literary honors for work in the English language. Ms. Clifon is an awared-winning poet, fiction writer, and author of children's books. Her book of poetry, Blessing the Boats: New and Selected Poems 1988-2000, won the 2000 National Book Award for poetry.
