Haywood named senior executive director of Multicultural Center

Portrait of Davida HaywoodDavida Haywood, PhD, will join the Student Life staff on July 5 as senior executive director of the Multicultural Center. 

Davida has been director of Multicultural Affairs at Capital University for the past two and half years and served as assistant director for the three prior years.  Among her many accomplishments at Capital was the creation and implementation of a four-day pre-orientation program for students of color, difference and their allies. Earlier in her career, she served as director of Student Activities at Livingstone College and in the admissions office at Johnson C. Smith University.

Since 2003, she has been very involved with Ohio State as well, serving as a graduate teaching associate and lecturer in the College of Education and Human Ecology; a  project assistant on service-learning in the John Glenn School; a graduate intern in Women Student Services; a mentor in the Mount Leadership Society; a member of the Ohio Union Council; and many other activities.

Davida earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Johnson C. Smith University; an M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs and a PhD in Educational Administration and Higher Education from Ohio State.

As director of the Multicultural Center, Davida will provide intellectual, multidisciplinary and administrative leadership for the MCC staff of 19.
